Little House, Big Table

a place where real people gather

I have always loved stories – reading them, living them, telling them. And this place is just that…a place for stories about my family, my friends and the place we call home. Occasionally a recipe will show up but most of all this is just daily life.

My life, so please be kind.

This place…little house, big table, is more about regular life than about the food – although much of our family life is centered around the table.

Because feeding people is what I do best.

As for me…I am Michele. I’m best known as Michael’s wife and Matthew, Alex and Brian’s mom. They are grown up now and living lives in many different places, but thankfully still remember that their Dad and I are their home. And we aren’t against reminding them of that.

=)

I realize that there is so much more to me than that…but I’ve always felt called to my home. To take care of my people.

my trio

Living a simple life in this complicated world isn’t easy…but inviting people to the garden for a meal is. Our table always has room for one more…turn up the music, make a bigger salad, cut some extra bread, pour some more wine, pull up a chair and sit down to eat.

So please, knock on the door and come in for dinner.

Americans are just beginning to regard food the way the French always have. Dinner is not what you do in the evening before something else. Dinner is the evening.

This is a beautiful, new thing you are doing, Michele – new to me, as I just found it tonight. (great antidote for insomnia: your stories & photos)…I’d love to take your offer to “pull up another chair” at your table while Bob’s still in Singapore (until Christmas). Greenbough Gang, as Ruth used to call the familes we knew there, is still our favorite neighborhood. (especially with family living in #9 again)
